Challenged Champions Golf Tournament

Meet Mercy, a determined adaptive climber whose journey began with curiosity and quickly turned into something extraordinary. As a below-knee amputee, Mercy once believed certain climbing routes simply were not meant for her. But after discovering the adaptive climbing community at Central Rock Gym in Syracuse through Syracuse Prosthetic & Orthotic Center, everything changed.

With the support of her prosthetic team and a specialized climbing socket made possible through the Challenged Champions Fund, Mercy found new freedom and mobility on the wall. What started as a single adaptive climbing night grew into training four days a week, pushing her strength, endurance, and confidence to new heights.

This year, Mercy competed at the USA Climbing Para Climbing National Championships in Texas, representing Syracuse among the nation’s top adaptive climbers. But for Mercy, the experience was about more than competition. It was about discovering a community of athletes who inspire each other to keep climbing higher.
