William's journey as an amputee and father is a testament to the power of dedicated support. At Syracuse Prosthetic Orthotic Center, we've been privileged to be part of his story—one of the most joyful humans we've ever met, regardless of the trials he has faced. William embodies resilience, determination, and joy. 

The Start of a Journey

After sustaining a work injury that wouldn't heal and put him in the hospital multiple times for multiple years, William made the brave choice to become an amputee, driven by his determination to be more present with his family. It all began with a preliminary meeting between William and Jim at Syracuse Prosthetics. Facing life as an amputee and expecting his first child, William sought guidance on navigating this new chapter. Jim's expertise and empathy set the tone for what would become a collaborative and impactful relationship between William and Syracuse Prosthetics.

Collaborative Care

Working together, William and Jim planned each step of his prosthetic journey. They discussed transitions between prosthetics, addressing William's evolving needs, and the importance of reclaiming a sense of normalcy in his life, especially as he looked forward to fatherhood.

Empowered Progress

With each new prosthetic, William continues to experience firsthand the difference personalized care can make. It's not just about functionality; it's about regaining confidence and independence. Supportive Community

Beyond fittings and consultations, having the right support team significantly impacts the recovery process. William is very thankful to be surrounded by a loving, helpful, and supportive family and to have Syracuse Prosthetics' ongoing support. William recalled when Jeff Tyo, the owner and practicing clinician, went out of his way to ensure William's comfort, making a late-night hospital visit to deliver a brace and make William more comfortable. This level of care made a lasting impact on William and his family.
